This secret page is just for you! How has YETI been a part of my life you ask? Here it is:
I’ve been doing graphic design and web development as far back to the time when people would ask “what is the internet?” I was well into an advertising, marketing and graphic design career when I randomly took up a side hobby of writing and recording music after getting a guitar for Christmas. I got pretty good at it and started doing shows. The shows turned into albums. The albums turned into tours. I was still contracting design work thanks to my trusty laptop and free-wifi; I could work from anywhere.
I first fell in love with YETI when I did a 7-day photoshoot in my Jeep Wrangler through the beautiful isolation of the desert Southwest with famed magazine cover photographer Rodney Bursiel. Several of the photo shoots were in Death Valley including Race Track Playa which is a 28-mile gut-busting, long and rock dirt “road” to the middle of nowhere. There certainly wasn’t a convenience store to get ice for our coolers or even water. In fact, non-profit groups would leave canteens at the halfway mark for travelers who got in over their heads. We were hot and thirsty by the time we made it to Race Track Playa. The sun was setting and we had to run across the dry lake bed to find the perfect shot. I’ve never been so dry and thirsty in my life. But when we made it back to the Jeep our YETI was still full of ice cold water way out there in the wild. So 7306 miles and 2235 photos later I released my album “Loves Road” and a video chronicling our adventure.
I’m not touring or playing shows anymore. I guess you could say I’ve gotten “it” out of my system. I’ve returned home from my adventures and back to my first love – branding!
I’ve just moved to south Austin and would relish a chance to rock the YETI brand. Such a great outdoor product with excellent branding and a awesome corporate energy. I really enjoyed the Texas Independence Day Party at your new flagship store.
It would be a dream come true to join your team! I do hope ya’ll call.
In the meantime check out the fun I had adding a little YETI to a few photos and take a look at the music video and rock on!
